Israel Adesanya took back his revenge against Alex Pereira at UFC 287 with a brutal knockout win in the second round. Adesanya, being flamboyant, celebrated this great victory with some of the most amazing celebrations. But fans weren’t happy about it.
Right after delivering the punch and dropping Pereira out cold, Adesanya hit the trademark arrow celebration of the Brazilian. After that, he immediately went in front of Pereira’s son and pointed at him and then acted to get knocked out in order to mock him.
This was noticed by a lot of online fans who then trolled and criticized Izzy for his actions. However, a huge part of the fan base supported Adesanya for doing what he did. This forced fans to compare this situation with the controversy at the women’s NCAA basketball championship between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark.
During their match against each other, Reese hit John Cena’s ‘You can’t see me’ celebration after Clark did the same earlier. Following that, Reese faced a lot of criticism and was labeled ‘classless’ by the fans and experts.
Israel Adesanya on settling the score with Alex Pereira’s son
Israel Adesanya’s celebration to mock Alex Pereira’s son got a lot of attention from the fight fans and received a mixed reaction. After the fight during the press conference, Adesanya revealed why he did that in front of Pereira’s son.
He said: “I’m petty bro. I remember the first time he knocked me out in Brazil his son came into the ring and started to get next to me. I looked for his kid and I pointed at him and I saw him.”
The beef between Adesanya and Pereira’s son goes way back to the second kickboxing bout that took place between these two fighters. That time, the Brazilian was able to knock Izzy out and his son mocked Adesanya by sleeping next to him.
