At UFC 289, at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada, Amanda Nunes decided to announce her retirement from the sport. The UFC double champion was the main attraction, defending her bantamweight championship against Irene Aldana. 

Nunes put on a massive TKO win and was in tears while talking about her future. “My mom was asking me so much to do this for so long, she can’t take it anymore,” Nunes said after laying down her two UFC titles in the center of the octagon, alongside her gloves. “My partner as well, Nina [Nunes], she’s been around so much with me my whole career, she’s pregnant now.”

However, the news about her retirement didn’t amuse Julianna Pena who wanted her trilogy fight with the Brazilian. “I scared you so bad into retirement. Personally, Congratulations. Professionally, wtf was that? #UFC289,” wrote Pena on her Twitter in order to mock Nunes.

However, it backfired and a lot of fans and users criticized the fighter for her insensitive comment.

Pena was the only fighter in recent years who managed to beat Amanda Nunes in a title fight. At UFC 269, Julianna Pena managed to beat Nunes via submission and take the bantamweight title. However, in the rematch, the ‘Lioness’ showed no remorse and took great revenge. Pena as well as the fans were expecting a trilogy but that might not happen as Nunes is now retired. Pena’s tweet was flooded with various brutal responses from fans and here are some of the most notable ones.

Many fans trolled Pena for her baseless claims and reminded her that the last time they were inside the cage, Nunes demolished her. Fans mentioned that Nunes is leagues above Pena and has achieved way more than what the fighter might imagine.
