Jalin Turner snapped Bobby Green‘s two-fight win streak at UFC Austin. Originally supposed to face Dan Hooker, Turner replaced Hooker on less than 2-week notice. Turner had his two-fight skid snapped with the first-round TKO.

The fight was not without controversy. The stoppage by referee Kerry Hatley was late, as Green took extra damage that knocked him out cold. Commentators Michael Bisping and Daniel Cormier were furious at the stoppage. Turner also agreed with the commentators in his post-fight speech.

The fight started with Green refusing to touch gloves with Turner. Green was the first to land a strike but found it difficult to deal with Turner’s range. Green kept his swag even before the finish sequence. Turner tagged Green with a straight right hand on the temple. Turner wobbled Green and followed it with a left hook that dropped Green. Subsequent ground-and-pound strikes made the referee stop the fight.

Earlier this week, Green had an altercation with UFC Austin headliner, Arman Tsarukyan. However, Tsarukyan won his fight against Beneil Dariush with a quick first-round KO. The win will move him into the top 5 of the rankings. Dariush has now lost 2 in a row after an eight-fight-win streak.

MMA community furious over the terrible stoppage at UFC Austin

The MMA community reacted badly to the stoppage of the co-main event of UFC Austin. Many, including Gilbert Burns, Ariel Helwani, and Terrance McKinney, criticized the stoppage on X (formerly Twitter). The stoppages at UFC 292 and UFC 295 main events were called early stoppages. Referee Marc Goddard was criticized for the stoppages.

However, at UFC Austin, Referee Kerry Hatley was criticized for a late stoppage in the co-main event See how the MMA community reacted to the stoppage at UFC Austin.

Nevertheless, Green stood up after the knockout and congratulated Turner. It was very different from the main event, where Beneil Dariush took much time to get to his senses. He did not stand with the referee when the decision was announced as he was on the stool. However, Tsarukyan thanked Dariush for accepting the fight when many refused.
