Luke Rockhold returned to fighting after a 3-year long hiatus. The former middleweight champion was matched against one of the most brutal knockout artists in the middleweight division. Paulo Costa, the 30-year-old Brazilian monster was coming off two consecutive defeats and was desperate for a win. A fight that many believed was going to be a walk in the park for Costa, turned out to be one of the toughest fights of all time.
UFC 278, despite all the hype, was a little dull up until the co-main event. The fans who sat in the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah will forever be grateful for those two fighters to put on an all-timer fight in front of their eyes. Costa ended up winning the fight via unanimous decision but Rockhold deserves massive respect for giving his all at the age of 37 in a place like Utah after a three-year break.
