UFC welterweight contender and former title challenger Colby Covington is known to be a big fan of former U.S. President Donald Trump. He is also known for sporting Trump merchandise on multiple occasions and events. Trump recently appeared on the UFC unfiltered podcast with UFC legend Matt Serra and comedian Jim Norton.

On the podcast Trump praised many UFC fighters for their skills and attitude, he also praised UFC president Dana White for managing the company so well. He spoke about former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and said, “This sport is interesting, I watched Usman and I think he’s a terrific guy and I’m only saying that when people say nice about me I say nice about them. He is a terrific, and fantastic fighter.”

Trump also praised Covington’s rival Jorge Masvidal who is also a huge supporter of the President. He also mentioned former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and his appreciation for him. He did not mention Covington even once in the entire interview.

Covington’s relationship with Trump began in 2018 when he was invited to the White House to meet with the president. He also received a phone call from Trump congratulating him on his victory over Tyron Woodley. Trump also praised Covington’s performance in the fight, saying that he was “very impressed.” He has even said that he would like to run for office himself one day.

Fans and other MMA personalities on Twitter are trolling Covington. Infamous MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz also took a jab at Covington when he reposted the video of Trump praising his client Kamaru Usman. He commented, “We know who’s crying right now“. Check out some of the fan reactions:

Covington will for sure reply to this news in a cunning way. He is also rumored to challenge Leon Edwards for the welterweight championship at UFC 295. Fans will be looking forward to the return of “Chaos” to the octagon.
