Jon Jones is one of the most recognized names in MMA history due to his longevity and success in the octagon. Jones recently met with Alexander Volkanovski at the ESPYS. Fans got excited after witnessing the P4P No.1 ranked fighters together at an event.
The latest edition of the ESPYS Awards saw the attendance of the best sports athletes in the world. This included many elite MMA fighters like Jon Jones, Alexander Volkanovski, and Leon Edwards. Jones was also nominated for the Comeback Athlete of the Year award for his remarkable return win against Ciryl Gane in the UFC. Additionally, Jon Jones won the Fighter of the Year award for the same accomplishment this year.
The meeting between the P4P best fighters was intriguing for many fans. Alexander Volkanovski has dominated his entire division the entire year and only faced one loss against Islam Makhachev in another division. But when he met Jon Jones, the heavyweight seemed to have his own thoughts. Jones said, “We’re tied for no.1. Why would they do that? I hate it.”
It is slightly off-putting for any fighter to work hard and be placed as almost the best. But it’s safe to say the next few fights for Volkanovski and Jones would determine who the top dog is in the UFC.
