This incident happened when Jones and Volkanovski were in a coffee shop to meet someone from the UAE.

Volkanovski and crew had a meeting with a guy called ‘The General’ at a coffee shop. To their surprise, Islam Makhachev was also invited. Apparently, ‘The General’ wanted to see Makhachev as well before he left Dubai. So, Makhachev sat at a different table when Volkanovski and crew spotted him. Islam actually paid our check which was super kind of the guy. Right? We didn't hear about it until after. But, then Volk and Islam obviously got a photo together and stuff. All friendly, all cool.

After Makhachev paid their bills, they met and talked about stuff, according to Jones. That was when Volkanovski and Makhachev took a photo together which went viral on social media. Jones said that it was a kind gesture from Makhachev. He further mentioned it was all friendly and cool between the rivals.

Now, Alexander Volkanovski is eyeing a matchup with Illia Topuria in January 2024. On the other hand, Makhachev is expected to defend his title against Charles Olivera soon. If not, Justin Gaethje also deserves a title fight. The UFC will likely choose one or the other.
