UFC on ABC 5 featured the featherweight main event between rising star Ilia Topuria and mainstay Josh Emmett. Topuria came into the bout with an undefeated record and could fight for the title with a win or two. On the other hand, Emmett needed the win to remain in title contention after losing the interim title bout at UFC 284. Topuria won the bout unanimously on the scorecard with a dominant outing in Jacksonville.

FIFA world cup winner and Spanish star Sergio Ramos attended the event in Jacksonville. He met with Ilia Topuria backstage before the main event. The fight started with Topuria pressuring Emmett and continued to do so until the final bell. Emmett did not look like his former self, and a new contender had risen in the featherweight division in Topuria.

Ilia Topuria dominated the fight in every metric. He landed more strikes, attempted more strikes, landed more significant strikes, and landed takedowns throughout the fight. Topuria surprised people when he managed to get a knockdown against Emmett. Emmett has a good chin, and not many fighters have managed to knock him down, aside from his loss to Jeremy Stephens in 2018.

The scorecard showed how dominant Topuria was. Judges scored the contest 50-44, 49-45, and 50-42. Top featherweights like Alexander Volkanovski, Yair Rodriguez, and Max Holloway need to be aware of the danger posed by Topuria. Last year, he was recognized as a dark horse in the division, and now, he has proven to be a title contender with dominant wins.

Ilia Topuria kept his undefeated record at UFC on ABC 5. The main event also won the Fight of the Night honors due to the ferociousness involved in the bout in Jacksonville. Fans went on Twitter to react to the performance of Topuria. Check out some of the reactions:

Topuria may be a win away from a title shot. The landscape of the featherweight division will become evident after title fight at UFC 290. However, Topuria remains in a good spot at the moment.
