Brazilian fighter Alex Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka in a title fight at UFC 295. His rapid rise to contender status and subsequent win remains unparalleled. However, “Poatan” had to overcome many obstacles outside of the combat sports spectrum to stand where he remains. One such hardship was that the fighter used to work at a local tire shop to meet his ends.

From working on tires to battling alcoholism to rising to become a double champion – Pereira has done it all. Fans and peers of the combat sports community have come to know about his various struggles and applauded him for rising above them time and again. Recently, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) and found the fighter’s tire shop on Google Maps. They also found an old image of Pereira. A prominent reaction read that he moved on from tires to riches.

Pereira stopped Prochazka via TKO at 4:08 of the second round at Madison Square Garden. With the win, Pereira became the ninth two-division champion in UFC history, capturing the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. Earlier this year, he was the UFC middleweight champion.

Pereira became the fastest two-time champion in UFC history in just seven UFC fights. No fighter has achieved it this fast yet. Even CEO Dana White commended that the feat remains incredible. After the matchup, the fighter had made a callout to old rival Israel Adesanya in hopes of concluding a trilogy bout in MMA.

It has since long come to light that the Brazilian used to work at a tire shop before entering the field of combat sports. Recently, fans have unearthed a shot of him working in his shop on Google Maps. This has garnered quite an enthusiastic and exhilarated amount of reactions.
