An interesting turnaround in one of UFC’s biggest prospects’ life. Zabit Magomedsharipov has announced that he will be pursuing a career in medicine.
The same hands that inflicted pain with his fighting, will now be curing people of their pain in the coming years. Zabit Magomedsharipov, one of the most loved prospects in UFC’s history is no longer in love with the sport of fighting. Zabit, in a recent Instagram post, has announced that he will be looking to head into the medical field.
After a hiatus of 3 years, MMA fans were finally excited to hear news circulate of Zabit returning to training. To their disappointment, a couple of days ago the fighter himself announced that he is looking to become a doctor. Magomedsharipov is a former ACB featherweight champion who made his UFC debut in the year 2017.
Zabit went undefeated in the UFC with an exciting 6-fight win streak run. The fighter who managed to beat the likes of Brandon Davis, Calvin Kattar, and Jeremy Stephens, recently took to Instagram to announce his move to the medical field. “The medical world of Makhachkala will soon have a new name,” wrote Magomedsharipov in his Instagram post.
Zabit Magomedsharipov lost interest in fighting because of religion
In a recent MMA Hour episode, Ariel Helwani discussed the possible exit of Zabit from the sport of fighting. The fighter had been sidelined from fighting for more than three years and according to Helwani, the Makhachkala fighter had become very involved in religion which led to the dilemma of him continuing his fighting career.
Zabit has a record of 18-1 in his professional MMA career. It is heartbreaking that the fighting world will never know where Zabit’s potential would lead him in the UFC. In his 6 fights inside the UFC octagon, Magomedsharipov won the performance of the night bonus four times. “From what I was told, he had almost like this moral religious dilemma that he was dealing with,” said Helwani about Zabit’s exit from fighting.
