Khabib Nurmagomedov and his teammates and compatriots from Dagestan are conservative Muslims. As such, almost all of them are very vocal about their support for Palestine. Nurmagomedov’s cousin, Umar, recently advocated for peace in Gaza after his victory over Bekzat Almakhan in his recent fight.

In addition to his support for Palestine, Nurmagomedov went off at feminists. Nurmagomedov felt that feminists showed double standards as they did not voice their support for the victims of the Israeli-Palestinian war, who were mainly women and children. This is what Nurmagomedov said about it.

Some bad things are happening in the world. All feminist groups are beginning to talk about this situation. But the same situation in Gaza - they're women too, they're not animals... Some countries keep support this...They don't have humanity.

Umar Nurmagomedov was not the only fighter at UFC Vegas 87 that made pro-Palestinian remarks. Muhammad Mokaev urged the British Prime Minister to stop their support of Israel. Nurmagomedov also wore the Palestinian scarf to show his solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Recently, former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland criticized a US Airman who set himself on fire to support Palestine. Strickland felt that the US government should not meddle in any conflict worldwide. Strickland had also criticized Belal Muhammad for his Palestinian support in the past as well.

Umar Nurmagomedov calls Islam Makhachev the best fighter in the world

After Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the sport, it was up to Islam Makhachev to follow in his footsteps. Makhachev did just that, as he is now the pound-for-pound king in the UFC. In addition to Makhachev, Usman Nurmagomedov from Team Khabib is a champion at Bellator. Moreover, many predict Umar Nurmagomedov to become the next champion of the region.

The undefeated bantamweight fighter recently praised Islam Makhachev as the best fighter in the world. This was after a reporter enquired whether he would like to fight in a PPV event headlined by Makhachev. Nurmagomedov was up for it and even said it would make their training camps easier.

As for his plans, Nurmagomedov urged the UFC to rebook his fight with Cory Sandhagen. The UFC had originally scheduled the pair to fight last year, but Nurmagomedov pulled out due to injury. Sandhagen recently expressed interest in the fight for late June on International Fight Week. Nurmagomedov said he would be ready to fight in June or even late May.
