Frankie Edgar gets knocked out Chris Gutierrez
The worst possible end for Frankie Edgar’s glorious career. The former UFC champion lost to rising contender Chris Gutierrez at UFC 281 PPV event today.
Leading up to UFC 281, it was known that former UFC lightweight champion and future Hall of Famer will be hanging his gloves after his fight against Chris Gutierrez. The UFC legend was paired against Chris Gutierrez who was never going to be an easy fight. Edgar and Chris fought in the main card at Madison Square Garden.
Almost every fight fan was hoping for a colorful finish in Edgar’s last fight. However, Chris Gutierrez was just too good and too big for bantamweight Frankie Edgar. In the very first round, the rising contender landed a brutal flying knee to flatline his legendary opponent. Gutierrez himself found it bittersweet to end a legend’s career in such a manner.
Edgar did not fear exchanges and walked to his opponent from the first second of the fight. Gutierrez who was way quicker on the feet than Edgar managed to find the gap between the veteran’s guard and land a beautiful knee to the face which immediately ended the fight in the second minute.

The entire Madison Square Garden applauded the former UFC lightweight champion on his final fight. Edgar ends his career with a record of 23-11.
