Song Yadong defeated Chris Gutierrez in a lopsided decision at UFC Vegas 83. The fight was not without controversy as both fighters accidentally eye-poked each other. However, Yadong poked Gutierrez, the American had a verbal altercation during his recovery time.

During the recovery time, a fan in attendance tried to heckle Gutierrez. The fan poked fun at Gutierrez, which made the fighter annoyed. This is what Gutierrez said in response:

F*ck you, whoever said that. Bet you won't get in here and fight me. F*cking Pu**y.

Gutierrez was not the original opponent of Yadong at the event. He replaced Petr Yan on short notice for the event. Moreover, the fight was set to happen in Shanghai. However, the UFC had to shift location on the advice of the Hong Kong police, according to Urijah Faber. Faber is Yadong’s mentor and coach.

Nevertheless, Yadong outclassed Gutierrez in the fight. Even though Gutierrez used lateral movement to frustrate Yadong, the Chinese fighter used wrestling to neutralize the movement of the American fighter. After the victory, Yadong called out Petr Yan, the former UFC bantamweight champion. Yan was recently in Abu Dhabi, where he faced off with Conor McGregor. Yan was not impressed by the victory and tweeted a yawn smiley on X.

Song Yadong responded to Petr Yan’s tweet that his fight with Chris Gutierrez was boring. Yadong won the fight via unanimous decision and was without any significant moments. In the post-fight press conference, Yadong fired back at Yan.

Yadong referenced Petr Yan’s latest fight with Merab Dvalishvili. Dvalishvili used his wrestling to frustrate Yan and earned a unanimous decision victory. Yadong called the fight boring, thereby getting one back at Yan. Yan wants to fight at UFC 299 in Miami, and Yadong wants the fight. This is what Yadong said about Petr Yan’s tweet at the post-fight press conference:

I already told everybody I want to fight Peter. You know, he posted the emoji, which means the fight was boring. But his last fight was boring too, like, shit.

Interestingly, Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera headline the event for the bantamweight title. Moreover, Henry Cejudo will face Merab Dvalishvili at the event. Yadong has a history with Vera as he won a controversial decision over the Ecuadorian in a featherweight bout. He hopes Vera will claim the title at UFC 299 but picks O’Malley as the favorite for the bout.
