Colby Covington‘s actions at the UFC 296 press conference did not go unnoticed by the MMA community. UFC fighters Belal Muhammad and Marvin Vettori among others did not like Covington’s words about Leon Edwards‘ deceased father. The MMA community was critical of Jorge Masvidal when he sucker-punched Covington in Miami.

However, now in hindsight, Muhammad and Vettori are supportive of Masvidal’s actions. Muhammad is the backup fighter for Edwards vs. Covington. This is what Muhammad tweeted.

Muhammad is a vocal critic of Covington and has ruffled feathers with Covington on multiple occasions. However, he was one of the very few who did not feel bad about the sucker punch. Now with the recent events, Muhammad doubled down on his statement. Marvin Vettori was not a fan of the sucker punch. However, his views changed after UFC 296 press conference. Colby Covington’s actions at UFC 296 press conference have made the event a must-watch for the fans. In addition to Edwards, Covington trash-talked Ian Garry, Stephen Thompson, and Tony Ferguson. However, none of those talks were comparable to the insensitive remarks about Edwards’ deceased father.

Jamahal Hill expects a brutal KO of Colby Covington at UFC 296

The UFC fighters were overwhelmingly in support of Leon Edwards after what transpired at the UFC 296 press conference. Jamahal Hill was no different. Like Belal Muhammad and Marvin Vettori, Hill criticized Covington’s remarks about Edwards’ dead father.

Hill, who is facing a domestic violence lawsuit, was on the side of Covington when he got sucker-punched by Jorge Masvidal. However, this time, his allegiance did not favor Covington. Hill took to X to share his thoughts about the matter. This is what he tweeted.

I hope Leon delivers one of the most brutal knocks will have ever seen on Saturday!!!! That comment about Leons father was so low and pathetic bro somebody like that should never have a belt!!!

The comments made by Covington upset Hill. Now, Hill wants to see Colby Covington get brutally knocked out by Leon Edwards at UFC 296. Edwards had already brutally knocked out Kamaru Usman at UFC 278 with a beautiful head kick. Hill wants something similar to that to happen to Covington. In addition to Hill, Derek Brunson, Quinton Jackson, Jack Shore, Mohammad Mokaev, and Ali Abdelaziz among others have also criticized Covington.
