Joe Rogan gives his opinions about the fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. The rivalry between Nurmagomedov and McGregor is one of the most iconic and popular ones in UFC history. Unlike others, these two actually hated each other and showed it through their actions.
During the build up of the fight, McGregor himself talked a lot of trash about Nurmagomedov and his family and religion. On the other hand, the Dagestani who doesn’t like trash talking and shows respect to opponents got caught up with Mcgregor’s insults.
At UFC 229, both of them finally got the opportunity to settle it inside the octagon. McGregor had some moments in the fight but ultimately Nurmagomedov absolutely took control of the fight. He demolished the Irish and forced him to tap in the fourth round. After the fight, Nurmagomedov jumped off the cage in order to beat the team members of McGregor and it was a crazy scene that nobody thought could happen.
During a post-fight press conference, Khabib said :
“This is not my best side. He talked about my religion, he talked about my country, he talked about my father. He came to Brooklyn, he broke bus and nearly killed two people. So why do people still talk about me jumping over the cage? I have shown respect.”

Joe Rogan on Khabib Nurmagomedov destroying Conor McGregor at UFC 229
Rogan in one of his podcast in the Joe Rogan Experience show, talked about the aftermath of the fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor.
While discussing the fight, Rogan enthusiastically talked about one of the moments in the fight for he stood out. Rogan explained that it was the moment when Nurmagomedov had full control over McGregor and was at the top. He was showering huge shots from above and was asking the ‘Notorious’ to talk back like he always does. According to Rogan that part was scary but at the same very entertaining. He said:
“In some ways one of the most interesting moments of the fight was Khabib on top of Conor beating the shit outta of him saying, let’s not now… That’s f***** terrifying.”
Rogan also mentioned that khabib’s behaviour was not his genuine during the fight. Building up to any fight against Conor has all of that thuggish elements and Conor trying to mentally affect his opponents. Giving an example of Jose Aldo, Rogan said how the trash talk from Conor’s side made Also come to him violently resulting in a loss for Aldo. But, incase of Khabib it worked oppositely.
Even now there are many other occasions where Rogan talks about the fight with his guests and reminisces about it. Rogan is a huge fan of Nurmagomedov and always talks positively when it comes about ‘The Eagle’s UFC return.
UFC 229 was undeniably turned out one of biggest Pay-per-view events of UFC and the credit goes to the fierce battle between Nurmagomedov and McGregor. Since then, the duo have been quiet but it’s clear that they will never be friends. If UFC manages to get them together inside the octagon for one last time it would be a massive thing and it will break many records.
