In the post-fight pressers, Sean Woodson explained the situation during the winner announcement. He said he heard the announcement to be a split decision but couldn’t decisively hear the last scorecard. Here is what he said:

I thought I did enough to win, but I knew it was close. Said it was a split, read the decision, could not hear who they said it for. His team started celebrating, so I just assumed it was him. I accepted the loss... He (Daniel Cormier) was like, you won. It was crazy, I went from being like extremely low, like I said, accepted the loss, thought Iost. And then, they told me I won, elated, super happy, and yeah, rollercoaster. Crazy!
