Despite his hopeful wishes, T.J. Dillashaw holds reservations about Sean O’Malley’s ability to come out on top against Aljamain Sterling. The high-stakes battle for the bantamweight championship between Sterling, who currently holds the title, and O’Malley is scheduled to unfold on August 19 at the renowned TD Garden in Boston. This electrifying showdown is set to headline the much-anticipated UFC 292 event.

In a recent podcast conversation with Quinton Jackson, a former UFC bantamweight champion himself, Dillashaw openly expressed his backing for O’Malley in the upcoming title clash. He acknowledged the crucial role that fighters like O’Malley play within the division, highlighting their impact and significance. Dillashaw’s endorsement of O’Malley’s prowess, however, comes with a caveat: he remains doubtful of O’Malley’s potential to overcome the formidable challenge posed by Sterling.

He said: “I’m rooting for O’Malley just because he’s a good character for the sport, he’s great for the weight class…  like the guy, but Sterling is just too good. His pressure is going to be there to get the takedown; he’s for sure going to get the takedown, and he’s going to get the back.”

“He’s a good wrestler, but he’s so desperate for the takedown because his striking sucks so bad.” added Dillashaw  According to Dillashaw, Sterling is great at grappling but isn’t efficient when it comes to shooting for takedowns. Dillashaw explained that Sterling does that to compensate for his lack of striking abilities.

Sterling, the UFC bantamweight champion, announced on Twitter that he was going into the booze business with his own brand of rum called Funk Harbour Rum.

He wrote in the caption:  “Here’s a sneak peek of my Funk Harbor rum! A project I’ve been working on for at least a year now. It’s amazing to see it coming all together. You guys will not be disappointed! Pre-sales coming soon, but first we storm Boston and turn the city upside down! Cheers.”

The fighter mentioned that the pre-sales of the rum have started and that fans are going to love the brand in the future. It seems like the champion is trying his luck in business, and it won’t be the first time a UFC fighter has done it. Conor McGregor started his Irish whiskey brand in 2018 and has since become a huge success. It will be interesting to see how consumers react to Sterling’s new rum.
