Recently, UFC announced three title bouts for the opening quarter of 2024. First, amongst them, is the rematch between Sean O’Malley and Marlon “Chito” Vera. The bantamweight champion executes his first title defense against Vera, at UFC 299. But former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo feels that history is about to repeat itself. He thinks that Vera would edge over the newly minted champion. He himself is to face Merab Dvalishvili sometime next January.

Recently, speaking to veteran Daniel Cormier over on the hosts’ YouTube channel, Henry Cejudo delved into the same. In the segment, the fighter divulges his aspirations for his next fight, and on peers like Alexander Volkanovski and Dvalishvili. Shifting scope to O’Malley, Cejudo mentioned him having certain drawbacks against the opposition. He said:

I still don't see Sean O'Malley as the best in the world. I don't. I do believe Chito Vera's gonna beat him. So, I do believe that I would bet the house on Chito.

O’Malley secured the bantamweight gold in August, with a knockout over Aljamain Sterling, at UFC 292. Afterward, Cejudo was amongst the array of fighters that was viable for O’Malley’s first title defense. This isn’t the first time Cejudo has berated the champion’s chance at title defense. Previously, he had put Vera above, based on endurance and optimal range and reach, against O’Malley.

Cejudo faces Dvalishvili in a supposed January matchup. In his last outing, Cejudo had suffered a split decision skid to Sterling, at UFC 288, thus prompting O’Malley to the title shot.

Henry Cejudo advises Ian Garry on the recent marital tiff and online trolling

UFC welterweight Ian Machado Garry has been in the news lately, a lot. The fighter was thrust abruptly into the spotlight due to his wife’s controversial publication of being a WAG (shortened from Wife and girlfriend), in 2010.

Correspondingly, in a most controversial yet expected manner, Sean Strickland took to X and labeled him a victim of his conniving wife. Garry had accordingly threatened to sue the fighter.

Like many others, Henry Cejudo has thus inserted himself into the situation and advised Garry, the welterweight prospect. Garry faces Vicente Luque, in an upcoming bout at UFC 296. Cejudo, the veteran bantamweight, has thus advised the fighter to focus on the matter at hand. He posted on X saying:

Ian Garry has been taking L’s left and right leading up to #UFC296. Ian Garry if the rumors are true, you and your team need to regroup and focsu on the task at hand and his name is Vicente Luque.

Cejudo, who faces Merab Dvalishvili soon, has also recently weighed in on the Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera rematch of UFC 299. Speaking of the divisional peers, Cejudo has hinted at O’Malley not having “gone through the trenches yet”, before his first title defense.
