Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is known for his power and explosiveness during his time at the UFC. Ngannou has also had a tendency to take on challenges and overcome them since the beginning of his career. During an interview with Unlocking The Cage, he spoke to sports writers Ryan McKinell and Andreas Hale.

During the interview, the heavyweight mentioned how he has been able to overcome challenges all his life and prove people wrong. Hale then asks Ngannou if he ever felt sabotaged by UFC President Dana White, to which he replied, “When it comes to Dana I’m all good, I always prove him wrong even when he is on my side. This is just our story.” Ngannou has faced problems with White during his exit from the UFC.

Ngannou is set to face World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury in a a long awaited matchup between them. Ngannou was doubted by many pioneers of the MMA world, such as Daniel Cormier, Chael Sonnen, and many others. Nobody believed that he could get the Fury fight and doubted him as negotiations were going nowhere between the two management teams before.

Francis is an absolute beast of a fighter and has various accomplishments. He has faced top-level heavyweights in the UFC and viciously finished them. He is known for his terrifying punch power and excellent fighting physique. Ngannou absolutely shocked people when he defended his title against Ciryl Gane in his first and only championship defense. He absolutely dominated Gane with his wrestling skills.

Dana White considers Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou to be a ‘gimmick’ fight

Ngannou was with the UFC for years before leaving and making his move to the PFL. His fights always promised entertainment and a sense of excitement, which drew a huge fan following. Even though he gave his best to the UFC, they did not allow him to fight in a boxing ring, which was always his dream.

When asked about the Fury vs Ngannou fight, White labeled it a “gimmicky fight.” White said, “I put on fights with only the best fighters in the world.” UFC reporter and podcast host Ariel Helwani revealed that Ngannou’s new company was named “GIMIK” which seems like a jab at the UFC President’s comments.

Dana White has organized a bout between UFC superstar Conor McGregor and Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in the past. He is also promoting a fight between billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk.
