Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou made a massive revelation in an interview with Joe Rogan. Currently, Ngannou has signed with PFL. His bitter ending with the UFC was one of the most talked about topics in combat sports. But, recently, the heavyweight has given another huge reason for disliking the UFC’s system.
Ngannou revealed that he lost a $1.2 million sponsorship due to UFC’s rules. The heavyweight said in the podcast, “ I had a deal on the table for over a million dollars. I was going to have like $1.2 million, which is the money that I never had. The deal was this close to signing. And then UFC announced the Crypto.com deal. And then the party pulled off.” Ngannou continued,” At that moment Crypto.com didn’t care. They have a deal with the UFC. You gonna wear it in the UFC whether you like it or not.“
Further, Ngannou emphasized that every fighter should have 2-3 sponsorship deals of their own. He also wanted the promotions to focus on assigning departments to manage such fighters who could get these deals. The heavyweight believed that this resource could provide a good amount of money for the livelihood of the fighters.
This incident could be a major factor in the Ngannou’s collapsed deal with the UFC. Ngannou’s UFC exit was a significant change in combat sports. However, this decision has borne him fruits as he will face boxing heavyweight Tyson Fury in a crossover boxing event. This fight will take place on October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Francis Ngannou is not planning to underestimate Tyson Fury on October 28th
Boxing heavyweight Tyson Fury‘s build has fooled a lot of boxers. One of those was Deontay Wilder, who lived with a sense of superiority compared to fitness. However, his superior physique didn’t help him in the ring with Fury. Holding such examples in his head, Fury’s boxing opponent, Francis Ngannou, was not planning on underestimating his opponent.
In many interviews, Fury has tried to make himself an underdog due to having an unnatural shape. Many fans had these preconceived notions regarding a boxer’s physique. An image of a shredded and fit athlete comes to many viewer’s minds. However, Fury defies such notions on a regular basis. His performance in the boxing ring is unquestionably great and he enjoys a resilient cardio in the game. Ngannou, in an interview, has said that he will not take Fury’s preparations lightly and would focus on giving him the attention he deserved.
Both fighters are set to face off in the ring on October 28th. The event will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This crossover boxing event holds the potential of breaking the PPV records of Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather‘s fight, another crossover boxing event.
