UFC retired legend Michael Bisping recently interviewed Georges St-Pierre on his YouTube channel. The former opponents had a blast talking about a lot of things from each other’s careers. During the podcast, Bisping asked Georges St-Pierre who according to him is the real GOAT.

Bisping also put the case for Jon Jones to be the candidate for the conversation. Surprisingly, GSP ignored Jones’ name and named Royce Gracie as his top fighter of all time because of the era he fought in and the risks he took.

“For me, I think it’s Royce Gracie because he did stuff that I don’t think I will ever see again,” said GSP on Bisping’s Youtube channel. “Like he was fighting in an era that didn’t have any weight classes. The rules were much different, it was very different…if you put Royce Gracie in the modern days against the champion, I don’t think he will do so well.”

He added: “I think the real GOAT is not even born yet because…I truly believe that the performances tend to get better over time… I think it has to do with knowledge and technology.”

GSP believes that in the modern world, there is no real GOAT and in the future fans might be able to see one. The fighter stressed the fact that with time and the advancement of technology, the levels will just get better and better.

When the UFC revealed that Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre would be making a comeback, it drove its supporters crazy. At the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 6 in December, GSP will be taking part in a grappling match-up.

This raised questions about his fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov as that is a dream showdown for many fight fans. However, in a recent interview, Javier Mendez gave his opinion.

“I don’t know if Khabib would do the competition because he stated that his family is what it’s all about, more devoting time for the family…Knowing him, any challenge is work, right? So he’s gonna have to stay focused on one particular thing,” said Javier Mendez.

“He’s not going to take it lightly if he does [fight GSP]. So I don’t see that happening, but I could be wrong.”  Mendez mentioned that even after retirement, the ‘Eagle’ is still training and is in good condition and if he fights GSP it will be a serious match-up.
