“Don’t play with my food”- Gilbert Burns reacts to Michael Chandler eyeing a fight against Jorge Masvidal

The welterweight division is one of the most stacked division in the UFC with fighters like Kamaru Usman, Gilbert Burns and Colby Covington competing at 155. Recently, Gilbert reacted to Michael Chandler, who called out Jorge Masvidal for a fight inside the octagon. Michael currently fights in the lightweight division but has expressed his desire to move up to the welterweight division, and his call out Jorge shows he is adamant about the decision.
Michael recently called out Jorge through twitter when he replied to a fan asking him about a fight with Jorge. Michael replied and showed that he is interested in fighting Masvidal in the UFC. Chandler last fought Tony Ferguson at UFC 274 and won the fight by knocking out Tony brutally in the 2nd round of the fight. Michael’s callout might interest Jorge, but Gilbert has cleared his intentions to fight Masvidal and has warned Michael to stay out of his way.
Gilbert last fought Khamzat Chimaev in a nail bitting bout and even if he lost the fight, he proved he is not a fighter that everyone can mess with. After the fight, Gilbert revealed he wants to face top stars in the UFC and wants to earn more because that’s what he deserves. Gilbert replied to Michael’s tweet and said: “Don’t play with my food.”

Jorge Masvidal wants to fight Gilbert Burns upon his return to the octagon
Jorge Masvidal is one of the biggest MMA fighter i the world currently and he talked about his next fight in a recent podcast with BlockParty. Jorge last stepped inside the octagon to face his archrival Colby Covington, but was outclassed by Colby’s superior fighting skills. Masvidal again plans to enter the octagon soon but wants to face the ‘notorious’ Conor McGregor.
Talking about his next fight, Jorge revealed he is not sure when he will fight again but expressed his desire to fight Conor McGregor, who is also eying his return to the octagon after his leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. while the fight with McGregor might make sense, Jorge has also named a bunch of opponents if the fight doesn’t materialise.
Jorge talked about fighting Gilbert Burns if the fight with McGregor fails to take place and also named other potential opponents like Stephen Thompson and Leon Edwards. Jorge and his coach have talked about a fight with Conor in the past and have even claimed that the fight could be the biggest fight in UFC’s history. However, it seems Masvidal is open to other challenges that he might face inside the octagon.
