“I can sign the contract – no takedowns” – Gilbert Burns wants a barn burner fight with Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title

Gilbert Burns has a special call out for Jorge Masvidal
Gilbert Burns is a true warrior. The Brazilian title contender is ready to fight Jorge Masvidal, who is on a losing skid in a fight for the BMF Title. To makes things interesting, Burns has proposed that the fight will have no takedowns.
Gilbert Burns now has earned the respect of all the MMA fans for taking the risk of fighting low-ranked superstar Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273. When no one accepted the offer to fight the Chechnyan, Burns had his doors open and surprised the entire world with his ability to go toe-to-toe with the prospect. After his war against Khamzat, Burns is addicted to fights like that and has made his mind up to fight the deadliest of strikers in the division.
The first name that comes to Gilbert’s mind is the former BMF title contender Jorge Masvidal. Burns believes he can put on a show for the fans if he gets matched with Masvidal in the octagon. However, before accepting the fight, Burns proposes the two fighters go for five rounds and also agree to not take down each other during the fight. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani from MMA Fighting, Burns spoke about his dream fight with Masvidal.

“I can sign the contract – no takedowns,” said Burns talking to MMA Fighting. “Let’s just do it. I’m looking forward to it. I am looking forward to putting on a show. Another crazy fight and another crazy finish.” Burns does not mind that Masvidal has three losses in a row, two against the champion, Kamaru Usman, and one against his fierce rival, Colby Covington.
“Once again, I’ve got a lot of respect for the guy. I think he’s very tough. He’s one of the BMFs and has over 50 fights. But I still believe I can knock him out.” Burns is currently ranked #4 following his loss to Khamzat Chimaev and Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal is at the #8 position. Burns has a lot of options for his next fight but the Brazilain focused on fighting opponents like Masvidal, Michael Chandler, Justin Gaethje, and other monsters like them who give it all in the octagon and focus on putting on a show for the fans.
“I told my coach a couple of times, I want to fight like Chandler, Justin Gaethje, I want to fight like that,” said Burns talking to Ariel Helwani. Watch the full interview of Burns with MMA Fighting below:
