Gina Carano was the golden girl of women’s MMA during her short professional fighting career. Despite the short amount of time she competed, Carano became a very popular and influential figure in the world of MMA. Her popularity had reached the height where she was set to fight Ronda Rousey in the UFC. But that fight failed to materialize itself. Gina Carano later revealed that Dana White was one of the big reasons why the fight was canceled on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

Joe Rogan on his podcast questioned Gina Carano about how serious was her comeback fight against Ronda Rousey and why it did not take place. Carano stated that Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta offered her a million-dollar fight deal against Ronda Rousey. However, Carano at the time did not have any gym or team to train with. Gina had also not fought for a long time and needed at least a year to get into fighting shape. For this reason, Carano Asked Dana White to keep it down and not release the news for at least 6 more months. However, White released the news very soon, putting Carano in a difficult situation.

With the fight being so high profile, every gym would have wanted to be a part of Carano’s comeback. But Carano did not like that idea and asked Dana White to ‘quiet it down’. White did not like that and insulted Carano.

“He said something pretty aggressive over text messages, I’m sure you know he does that and I was just like yeah, okay I’m not gonna do that. It was very simple for me like, that was gonna be something for me and I was excited to be back in that world and I was excited to do something like that, I respect Ronda and I thought that it was exciting,” said Gina Carano.

Gina also revealed she had a movie offer lined up at the same time. After White’s insult, she took up that offer instead of the fight. Dana White might have fumbled this up, but Ronda Rousey still wanted a fight with Carano. Ronda Rousey also stated that she would return to MMA only if her next opponent was Gina Carano.
