Recently in an interview with Kurt Angle in his podcast, Rousey confirmed that she is ready to come back from retirement to fight Carano. She said :

There’s only one person I would come back for. “I’ve said it a million times, it’s not like it’s something new but for Gina, Gina Carano. She’s the reason why I got into fighting, she’s the reason why I knew it was a possibility. I will always be forever grateful.”

Similarly, Carano has recently opened up about how UFC was ready to make this dream match up back in 2016.

Carano was recently invited to the ‘ Joe Rogan Experience‘ in which the former Strikeforce and Elite XC star shared his conversations with UFC president Dana White.

Carano revealed that five years ago White offered $1 million to fight with Rousey. But at that time, Carano had no team, gym or other resources to train for the fight. Carano explained that he asked White to keep the news a secret but White didn’t do it. Things got more complicated and she decided to drop her name from the fight.

Carano said : “I had my whole team in Vegas. So when Dana and Lorenzo invited me out – this had to have been five years ago, they said ‘we’d like to offer you a million dollar fight with Ronda.’And I was like, ‘damn, what took you guys so long? What I had told Dana and Lorenzo at that time was, ‘I don’t have a team. I don’t have an idea of a team. I don’t have a gym.’ I don’t think me and Kevin (Ross) were together at that time. I didn’t have any connection to where I would do this fight camp”

She further added that it would have taken her atleast three months to stabilize her weight and the. Four more months in a fighting camp to get back into fighting. ” I hadn’t fought at that time in almost decade…It made everything so much more difficult. I was like, ‘if you just quiet down for a second I can find a team and I can get organised. And then he(Dana) said something pretty aggressive over text message. So I was like, okay, I’m not going to do that. It was very simple for me. ” Said Carano.

Gina felt disrespected by Dana’s behaviour and pulled out of the fight. It was unfortunate that the fight never took place. However, the recent call out from Rousey can be the start of something interesting in this story. Moreover, Gina believes that if she would ever be back to fighting then she would fight Ronda. “I can’t say that I wouldn’t (fight again.) And honestly I feel like she’s the one as well if I wanted to…you never lose that want to do it.” said Carano.
