Seems like Jiri Prochazka is closer to getting his ideal fight for his first UFC title defence and kudos to Glover Teixeira for it. Prochazka, the current UFC light-heavyweight champion of the world, defeated Teixeira back in UFC 275 via submission in the last round to become the first Czech UFC champion. Many hail the fight as one of the greatest title fights of all time in MMA history. Now, since the victory didn’t come easy, Prochazka wishes to fight and defeat Teixeira yet again, but in a much more convenient manner.
However, the proceeding to make a fight deal between the two isn’t as easy as it may seem. Jan Blachowicz, another former champion, is coming off a significant win over Aleksandar Rakic and since then has been parading through Twitter to get his title shot in a European nation, preferably his hometown of Poland. What happens next is in the hands of the UFC matchmakers. Either challenge for Prochazka will be an exciting matchup to watch for the fans.
“Send me location”- Glover Teixeira quotes Khabib Nurmagomedov to affirm his acceptance of Prochazka’s challenge
Initially, Blachowicz came out to Twitter to call out Prochazka for not accepting his challenge for a fight as allegedly promised and instead calling out Teixeira for a rematch. Prochazka then took to Twitter to address Blachowicz’s alleged misunderstanding that the champ promised the former champ about their fight. Followed by that, Prochazka targeted Teixeira and said “Iam still waiting for answer from @gloverteixeira. If you’re not interested, let me know. I want to fight till the end of this year. No matter who.”
What do you think of this triangular back and forth between Prochazka, Blachowicz, and Teixeira? Which fight do you think is much more exciting to make for Prochazka’s first title defence fight? Either way, the fans can put themselves in a win-win situation since both the former champions are top-ranked and can therefore put a lot of challenges that will bring the best out of both the challenger and the champion.
