Gordon Ryan, known for his exceptional grappling skills in Jiu-Jitsu, attended the UFC 295 event held at Madison Square Garden. Ryan does not overtly support the procedural drug testing pool in combat sports. But recently, he posted a picture with Jeff Novitzky. Novitzky is a prime member of the drug testing pool. He is famed for exposing former Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong as a drug cheat in 2013.
His reputation within the sports world has rightfully earned him the moniker “the golden snitch”. He is the current senior vice president of Athlete Health and Wellness, at UFC. Taking to Instagram, Ryan posted a picture alongside Novitzky with the quote:
“Say YES to high test. (cross) to @usantidoping”.
This has garnered quite a few fan reactions. One such reaction from CBS Sports analyst Luke Thomas said:
Ok, this is hilarious...
Throughout the years, there have been widespread speculations of Ryan indulging in performance-enhancing substances. The fighter/trainer himself does not squander off or even deny such allegations. Ryan believes that steroids are factually, not fully illegal to use in Jiu-Jitsu.
Ryan has also, time and again, expressed that he was never been a fan of the USADA testing pool regulating performance enhancements in combative sports entertainment.
Conversely, this is what makes the post by Ryan even more hilarious. Additionally, the UFC’s separation from USADA has greatly pleased the individual, as expressed in Ryan’s recent Instagram post.
Fans react to Gordon Ryan posting a picture with Jeff Novitzky
Gordon Ryan is one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experts. Recently, he was in attendance for UFC 295. After Ryan posted a photo with Jeff Novitzky, fans took to the comments section to give Ryan props for trolling the drug-testing agency.
Ryan had never been a fan of limiting the scope of a fighter with drug testing pools. Recently, USADA severed ties with the combat sports entertainment promotion, on grounds of expediting testing pools for Conor McGregor.
In a very lengthy statement, USADA divulged that it would honor its contractual dealings till the end of the year, and regulate fighters. But after that, they would subsequently split from UFC. In light of this, Ryan’s trolling the system has fueled many positive reactions.
Now that USADA is out of the picture, some fight fans are speculating about Ryan joining the UFC roster. However, given his dominance of the jiu-jitsu scene, Ryan seems less interested in competing in MMA. As for now, he continues coaching other fighters.
