Whittaker survived more rounds and was confident this time against ‘The Last Stylebender’. After five rounds, Izzy was declared the winner via unanimous decision. But ‘The Reaper’ had some different opinions regarding the fight and believed he won the fight.

After the fight, during the post-fight interview, Whittaker told Daniel CormierI know I started off rocky in the first round. But I felt like I took every round after that but It is what it is. You know what they say, don’t leave it to the judges….I thought I did enough. I thought I took that.”

After defending his title for the fourth time and defeating his biggest challenge for the second time, Izzy joined the post-fight press conference.

During the conference, Adesanya addressed the fact that Whittaker thinking that he won the fight is very delusion. The fighter mocked Whittaker by explaining he must have been drunk like Paulo Costa in UFC 253 to claim that he won. Adesanya also suggested that Whittaker should take some rest and put together his thoughts regarding the fight.

I heard he thought he won the fight or some s***, i don’t know, what he and Vettori were sipping on, maybe it was Costa’s wine that fight. Yeah, same, he needs to go have a shower as well and reflect and realize that, that’s not true,” said Adesanya

It’s not the first time a fighter is unhappy with the results given by the judges. In MMA, something like this is very common, and Marvin Vettori also had similar issues when he fought Adesanya at UFC 263. After the fight, the Italian explained that he was having good success in boxing and kicking exchanges and his coaches even said that he won the fight. But according to the judges, the results were different.
