The strawweight rematch between Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk took place on the main card of UFC 275. The first fight took place back in UFC 248 when Weili won via unanimous decision and defended her strawweight title then during her championship tenure.

Both these athletes worked on a game plan to get their opponent out of the action as soon as possible, and they started the fight in a similar fashion. Zhang and Joanna looked a little hesitant to engage, but as soon as the first punch landed, they threw their gameplan out of the window and started exchanging heavy blows.

Weili came to her sense and recollected herself to land a big takedown, blasting Joanna with ground and pound strikes. She maintained the top position for much of Round 1, and Joanna was visibly tired when she got up to her feet. Joanna started the second round with some pressure, but after some initial exchanges, Zhang landed a perfect spinning backfist to knock Joanna out cold.

The former strawweight queen supposedly put an end to this rivalry and everyone in the MMA community lost their mind over it. Former light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz was rooting for Joanna, but he wished Weili all the best for her future.

In his Tweet, he wrote, “Kurw… Congrats for Weili.”

UFC’s bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling was more than impressed with this knockout, he wrote, “That was slick and nasty!”

Henry Cejudo helped Weili in her rematch against Rose Namajunas, and he was happy with her performance, he wrote, “I’ve been waiting since March 2020 to see this one run back. Get your (popcorn) ready! Let’s go Zhang Weili, I’m so proud of you!”

He added, “Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Zhang Weili 3.0 has risen!”

MMA journalist, Brett Okamoto was in awe of Weili’s performance, he wrote, “OMG. Zhang Weili, take a freaking bow. Maaaan. She is a stud. Clearly improving in every area. Fought brilliantly tonight. Exclamation mark on seven of the best rounds in MMA in recent years.”
