Henry Cejudo rekindled an eight-year-old beef and called out his former training partner, Brandon Moreno. Both Cejudo and Moreno faced losses recently in UFC 298 and UFC Mexico. As such, ‘Triple C’ wanted the UFC to book them for Mexican Independence Day. It meant at UFC 306 in the monumental Las Vegas Sphere. So, he even upped the stakes and called the fight ‘Mexican American vs. True Mexican’.
In his recent YouTube video, Henry Cejudo explained his relationship with Brandon Moreno and how it deteriorated. He also reviewed Moreno’s performance at UFC Mexico and stated that ‘The Assassin Baby’ had no title opportunity. Here is what he said:
What fight would be better than the Triple C (Henry Cejudo), Brandon Moreno?, The Mexican American versus the true Mexican and they come together for a five round showdown at the Sphere in Las Vegas for Mexican Independence day. I like it.

Henry Cejudo only recently made it clear that he wasn’t retiring. Now, he called out Brandon Moreno to keep his career rolling. ‘Triple C’ and Moreno were once friends whose relationship turned bitter during The Ultimate Fighter Season 24. Last year, ‘The Assassin Baby called out Cejudo, stirring up the 8-year-long beef. He was even willing to move up to bantamweight just to fight Cejudo. As such, Cejudo accepted the callout now.
Brandon Moreno lost to Brandon Royval in UFC Mexico via split decision. It also took away Moreno’s chances of bouncing back to a title shot soon. Similarly, Henry Cejudo lost to Merab Dvalishvili in UFC 298, giving away his chances of fighting for the title. Now that the belt went further away from both the men, Cejudo wanted to settle the beef. So, he called for the fight for UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere.
Henry Cejudo details his beef with Brandon Moreno
Bradon Moreno found home at Henry Cejudo’s gym during his early MMA career. As such, ‘Triple C’ claimed he helped Moreno in all possible ways. All went well until Cejudo coached Season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter against Joseph Benavidez. Since ‘The Assassin Baby’ was also a competitor in the show, Cejudo wanted him on his team. Unknowingly, he fumbled on the opportunity, which became their relationship’s first hit.

Following this, Henry Cejudo stated Brandon Moreno distanced himself voluntarily since he was on the opposing team. ‘Triple C’ remained positive about it. However, Cejudo felt the relationship broke when Moreno helped Joseph Benavidez during his training camp. As a result, Cejudo ended up losing the fight to Benevidez. Since then, the two didn’t get along. After eight years, ‘Triple C’ called him out to settle the feud.
With history and bad blood, the fight between Henry Cejudo and Brandon Moreno was interesting. However, they competed in different weight classes, Cejudo at bantamweight and Moreo at flyweight. Last year, Moreno was willing to fight ‘Triple C’ at 135lbs, and the Olympic medalist wanted the same. However, he was open to the idea of the fight taking place at flyweight as well. As such, Cejudo wanted this fight to take place at the Las Vegas Sphere for Mexican Independence Day at UFC 306.
