Henry Cejudo speaks about MMA legend Jose Aldo‘s retirement in a recent interview and thinks that it was the right time for the former UFC-WEC champion to hand in his gloves. In an interview with Helen Yee, Cejudo talks about Nate Diaz, Khamzat Chimaev, Gordon Ryan and many more. In the midst of all, Cejudo also commentated on Aldo’s farewell to the UFC and the sport.

“He’s a legend, he’s the greatest featherweight of all time and you know, he’s a real Hall of Famer,” says Cejudo. “Sometimes you can be given Hall of Fames in the UFC, but this one is truly earned and he’s one of the greatest of all time.”

Talking about if this was the right time for Aldo to retire, Cejudo couldn’t agree more. “I think this is the time for him to make money. I think this is the time for him to do, whether exhibitions… use a brand that the UFC has given you or all these other platforms and continue to keep making money, be an entrepreneur…” he continued.

As Cejudo said, Aldo is leaving a legacy worth the Hall of Fame worthy, without a doubt. While Aldo was getting tributes from fans and pros all over the world, the Brazilian was busy celebrating the delivery of his second child, Jose Aldo III. Aldo has the record for the most title defences in UFC-WEC featherweight history. He is submitting for himself a record of 31-8 in his overall MMA career. Out of those 31 wins, Aldo has won 17 by the way of knockouts.

His list of wins includes the likes of Rob Font, Marlon Vera, Pedro Munhoz, Jeremy Stephens, Renato Carneiro, Frankie Edgar, Chad Mendes, Ricardo Lamas, Chan Sung Jung, Kenny Florian, Urijah Faber, Mike Thomas Brown, Cub Swanson and many more. Aldo was supposed to fight for the title against Cejudo back in 2020. But due to the abrupt onset of the Covid Pandemic, the fight couldn’t be made.
