“Never too late to learn”- Henry Cejudo reacts to receiving wrestling lesson from Khabib Nurmagomedov

Henry Cejudo reacted positively to wrestling advice from his friend Khabib Nurmagomedov

Henry Cejudo may be a coach but he’ll forever be a student of the game and this was seen in his recent interaction with Khabib Nurmagomedov. When he’s not giving advice to his students in the gym Cejudo can be seen giving unsolicited advice to former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor. The only man that can keep Cejudo held down on the ground is former UFC Lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The day before Eagle FC: JDS vs Yorgan DeCastro took place, Khabib was seen with Cejudo and UFC Welterweight Champion who were there as commentators and in other on-air personality roles, were seen sharing the octagon. The Olympic gold medalist in wrestling Cejudo was seen advising Khabib on how to kick to keep distance, a tactic Cejudo used late in his career often to avoid takedowns and create openings of his own. Khabib however was not impressed.

The Dagestani believed that with Cejudo’s wrestling acumen it was pointless to hang on the depend on his striking when he can overpower the best fighters with his wrestling. When fellow wrestler Kamaru Usman suggested that wrestling can get tiring during a fight, Khabib had another piece of advice. “Use your hips” he said, suggesting that wrapping your legs in a way so your hips are above that of your opponent’s can be way more tiring on them, who have to carry your weight along with theirs.

Khabib then mentioned how this would be the result if Charles Oliveira and Islam Mackachev were to fight, saying Islam would “Ride him (Charles Oliveira) like a horse.”

Today Henry retweeted the video shared originally by Chael Sonnen and experienced nothing but gratitude for the learning experience. Khabib, Kamaru, and Cejudo are long-time wrestlers and managed by the Dominance MMA banner, hence the longstanding respect between the trio. He said, “It’s never too late to learn.” signifying the advice by the Dagestani was something new to add to his already vast arsenal. He continued, “When Khabib (@teamkhabib) talks, you listen.” signing off with the title “Humble Henry.”

He indeed is Humble Henry for learning for Khabib Numragomedov as the Olympian currently has more Champions/Former Champions training under his belt than Coach Khabib himself.
