Champion Aljamain Sterling and challenger Henry Cejudo will clash at UFC 288 for the bantamweight title. Both fighters must attend a mandatory press conference to promote their upcoming bout during the fight week. These press conferences always provide some of the most entertaining moments in the build-up to a PPV. Sterling and Cejudo got into a heated debate about nationality and their heritages.
Aljamain Sterling said, “You are not even a Mexican!” when Cejudo insulted him. Cejudo fired back, saying, “You are not even Jamaican. You are a wannabe American, representing another flag. I am born in America, and I am an American, su**er.” However, it did not end there. Sterling asked Cejudo if he was American. Cejudo replied yes, and Sterling told him not to walk around with the (Mexican) flag. Sterling ended it by telling Cejudo not to disrespect his people.
Recently, MMA fighters have embarked on trash talks based on a fighter’s heritage and nationality. It started when Khabib Nurmagomedov used the population of Ireland and Russia to insinuate that he would defeat Conor McGregor. Colby Covington went after Brazilian fighters in his interviews. Recently he talked trash about the nation of England to ignite a feud with the English champion Leon Edwards.
Henry Cejudo and Sterling are no different. Cejudo has Mexican ancestry but represents and considers himself an American. On the other hand, Sterling is a first-generation Jamaican-American. His parent was from Jamaica and migrated to the United States for a better life. Both fighters getting upset over one another insulting their heritage was entertaining.
Aljamain Sterling makes a massive prediction about Henry Cejudo title fight
Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling will defend his title for the third time against Henry Cejudo. Cejudo returns from three years of inactivity at UFC 288. He will look to reclaim the title that he never lost. However, Sterling has a huge feeling about knocking Cejudo out.
He said, “I hope he stays on the outside. I’m going to pick his ass apart. I really do think so. I think this might be my first stand-up KO.” Sterling has a particular game plan in mind to take on Cejudo’s kicking game from the outside.
Fight fans will find out at UFC 288 if Sterling can knock out Cejudo. UFC 288 also features the welterweight title eliminator bout between Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns.
