The interview reflected on his notable victory over Neil Magny at UFC 292 and his contentment with his commanding performance. He also elaborated on his callout of Stephen Thompson, expressing his keenness to face the experienced fighter. Furthermore, Machado Garry talked about his wish to compete in Dublin.
Ian Machado Garry remains unfazed by Dana White‘s conflicting stance on his preferred opponent for the next upcoming fight. Garry expressed interest in facing Stephen Thompson after outclassing Magny for three rounds. However, White disclosed in the post-fight press conference that Thompson declined the offer to fight “The Future.” Ian Garry had a message for Thompson. He said, “Ian Garry just set the stage. All you have to do is say yes, call up the bosses, tell them when you want to fight, and i will see you there.”
The Irish contender remains steadfast in his conviction that the proposed fight would eventually materialize. Garry asserted that the matchup is logical for fans and the UFC. He envisioned the possibility of the bout becoming a main event or in the MSG. He’s willing to be patient, acknowledging that situations could shift and opportunities emerge in the ever-changing landscape of MMA.
Remarkably, beyond his in-cage achievements, Garry has also shown his prowess in psychological tactics. If this plan succeeds, Garry will have one of the best resumes in all of combat sports history. The undefeated fighter has vowed to reach GOAT status in MMA. So far, his plan remains solid.
The Welterweight division is filled with exciting new prospects and hardened veterans. Garry has yet to test himself against a wrestler. His takedown defense must be on point to achieve his dreams of winning the welterweight title.
