“We’ll see who the bogeyman is,” Ian Garry determined to shut down myth around Khamzat Chimaev’s inevitability with 185-pound super fight

UFC welterweight star Ian Garry made major headlines after his dominant victory over Neil Magny at UFC 292. The Irishman displayed a standout performance after dominating Magny for three rounds straight. As the 25-year-old plans his next fight, he expressed his opinion on a possible fight against fellow welterweight Khamzat Chimaev.
In an interview, Garry said, “Chimaev is legit as legit comes. Everybody keeps talking about him like he’s some boogeyman. Sweet. Cool. I’ll see you in a couple of years. I’ll see you at 185 and we’ll see who the boogeyman is.” Garry’s confidence reminds fans of the young Conor McGregor from 2013-2016.
Garry also said that he doesn’t plan to fight Chimaev in the immediate future. Chimaev is scheduled to fight Paulo Costa in a middleweight bout at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi. The 29-year-old is looking to be in contention to fight for the middleweight title against champion Israel Adesanya. A victory over Costa could help Chimaev land the title shot.
A matchup against “Borz” remains a dangerous fight for the Irishman. Chimeav will have the grappling advantage, and Garry has never tested himself against a wrestler. Currently, fight fans would pick Chimaev, but no one can undermine the rising potential of Garry. Both fighters have an undefeated record. They could fight in the future if both fighters conquer their respective divisions.
Ian Garry reacts to Stephen Thompson’s rejection
Ian Garry called out Stephen Thompson for his next fight at UFC 292. Thompson is currently ranked 7th in the division. He is known to be an experienced fighter with great technical knowledge of the game. UFC president Dana White confirmed that Thompson had rejected Garry’s callout for the fight.
However, Garry doesn’t plan on giving up on his plan to fight Thompson. In an interview, Garry said the fight would eventually occur sooner or later. The Irishman believed that “Wonderboy” had the chance to give the fans what they wanted. This fight could be another opportunity for Garry to rise in the division’s ranks. A possible win against “Wonderboy” could open more doors for the Irishman.
The fight promises a great matchup as both fighters have a good reach and can put on a striking masterclass for the UFC fans. Garry has built an impressive resume with an undefeated record, and if the Irish star keeps up his dominance, there’s no stopping him from getting him his favored fights.
