Michael Page made his long-awaited UFC debut at UFC 299. He went against the credited Kevin Holland and secured a comfortable decision win. Soon, fans threw Stephen Thompson as his next potential opponent. But, ‘Venom’ had his eyes set on the Irish prospect Ian Garry and called him out. Now, Garry responded to the callout.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Ian Garry instantly dismissed any thoughts about fighting Michael Page. He reasoned his call based on the rankings. Here is what he said:

No! (Michael Page's) number is not higher than mine. I want to be the best in the world, and unless your number is higher than mine, I’m not interested. Unless he passes me in the division somehow and his number is higher than mine, (I have) zero interest.

However, Ian Garry remained open to fighting Michael Page if he surpassed him in the rankings. This came as a hypocritical statement as the Irish star called out Colby Covington for not accepting a fight with him while ‘Chaos’ didn’t want to fight a low-ranked fighter. But, their recent heated exchanges burned animosity between them and propelled interest among the fans.

Ian Garry last defeated Geoff Neal at UFC 298 with a clinical performance. Although the Irishman faced backlash for various reasons, he kept his undefeated record intact. As for Michael Page, he earned his first UFC win against Kevin Holland. While a clash between the two would be fun, people were more interested in seeing ‘The Future’ locking horns against Colby Covington.

Michael Page jibes at Ian Garry for dismissing his chances against Kevin Holland

Michael Page faced Kevin Holland at UFC 299. Making his UFC debut at 36 years of age, MVP faced odds stacked against him. Likewise, fellow welterweight contender Ian Garry didn’t believe in the UK fighter. He stated there was no way for Page to beat Holland. Now that ‘Venom’ defeated Holland, he trolled Garry in style.

In a social media post, Michael Page edited a clip of Ian Garry being dismissive about him. As such, Page included a video of him landing an elbow on Holland and sighing like the internet influencer Khaby – Insinuating ‘This is how it is done.’ Watch the video below.

In hindsight, Ian Garry gave Michael Page his props. But, even after a troll and a callout from MVP, he remained uninterested in fighting him. With both fighters having a respectable following and the same aim of attaining UFC gold, they could clash heads in the future.
