No love is lost between Ian Garry and Colby Covington. The animosity only got heated after Garry called out ‘Chaos’ for a fight. As such, Covington responded with an insulting video, making fun of the Irishman and his wife. Now, ‘The Future’ comes with his reply. Garry has been eying a fight against ‘Chaos’ to further boost his credibility in the welterweight division.
In his video, Colby Covington listed three conditions for their matchup and gave Ian Garry 24 hours to decide. Now, Garry dropped the most awaited response video. It was just a short clip that only had Garry say:
I’ll respond on my own time, don’t rush me.Ian Garry via Instagram
It looked like the #7 ranked welterweight contender needed more time to think about a fitting response to Covington’s vile comments.
Initially, Ian Garry called out Colby Covington after his win against Geoff Neal at UFC 298. While it was only an early callout, ‘The Future’ went on to trash the American wrestler in his following interviews. He also claimed he would ragdoll him and beat him easily. However, Garry’s attempt to trash-talk Covington, who is one of the best trash-talkers in the business was met with a harsh rebuke. After a month Covington accepted the callout and responded in typical brash fashion.
The hatred between Ian Garry and Covington started when the latter took an active interest in the controversies surrounding the Irishman and his wife faced last year. He even asked an NSFW question to the UFC 296 crowd at the press conference which escalated the whole situation. As such, Ian Garry wanted to avenge ‘Chaos’ for all the tarnishing he did. However, one has to wait to see whether the matchup comes to fruition or not.
Colby Covington goes over the three stipulations to accept the fight against Ian Garry
In his viral social media video, Covington addressed the callout from Garry and gave three conditions for him to accept the fight with him. As such, he made personal attacks on Garry and his wife Layla Anna-Lee. Now, speaking about this response video with Submission Radio, he sternly stated he wouldn’t fight the Irishman if his conditions weren’t met.
The three stipulations Colby Covington put forward were: Firstly, Ian Garry and his wife needed to turn on their comments section on their social media. Secondly, Layla Anna-Lee to beg and convince Covington for the matchup personally. Thirdly, when Covington wins, Garry’s wife needs to be by his side for one of his ads. Although ‘Chaos’ often put his fight persona and made such comments, he looked serious about these conditions. He reasoned that he was higher in the rankings and wanted something in return for taking on the lower-ranked Garry.
If he wants this fight, he has three stipulations guys. First one is, he has to turn his comments on social media. Him and his wife turn on their comments. Second stipulation: Layla needs to get on her knees and hands and beg for it. I want to hear her best explanation of why I should come out and fight him. Why should I go back in the rankings? He's a bum. Third stipulation boys, when I whip the sh** out of (Ian Garry), he has to let his wife star on my shoulder in the next America's pick of the video.Colby Covington (via Submission Radio)
He mentioned all those conditions by verbally attacking Garry and his wife Layla Anna-Lee. With animosity between the two, the fans certainly called for a grudge match to settle it. However, whether the UFC books this fight is to be seen. If yes, Covington would be coming off a loss to Leon Edwards and Garry a win over Geoff Neal. This matchup has the potential to be one of the most talked about bouts in the UFC.
