The drama between Ian Garry and Colby Covington is simmering hot. Garry fired back at Covington with a stern response. This came after the controversial fighter insulted Garry’s wife in a recent callout. The Irish fighter has now challenged Covington to an “I quit” retirement match.
The undefeated Irish prospect did not mince words in his retort. He admonished Colby Covington for disrespecting women and his wife, Layla. He asked Covington to fight him in a match that sees one of them exit the UFC.
You gave me three stipulations, all of which had nothing to do about fighting and were all talking about my wife. I don’t know how you were raised, but women aren’t property and my wife definitely ain’t no trophy.Ian Garry via Instagram
Ian Garry slammed Covington’s underwhelming resume. He highlighted his three failed UFC title shots. Garry vowed to be “the final chapter” in Covington’s lackluster career. The Irish prospect has quickly become a rising star in the UFC. His unblemished 14-0 record includes impressive victories over established names like Neil Magny and Geoff Neal. Unfortunately, his constant attempts to trash-talk and mimic fellow Irish fighter, Conor McGregor have not appealed to fans. As such, they dislike him with a fervor.
Covington, though unranked, remains a high-profile name in the UFC’s 170-pound division. However, the 36-year-old American has struggled recently. He lost three of his last five bouts. These include failed title bids against Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards.
Colby Covington goes off on Ian Garry
Ian Garry’s recent reply was instigated by Colby Covington’s personal attack on him. Covington had issued a crude callout to Garry. He set three vile conditions for the undefeated Irish prospect to secure a fight against him. The controversial American made the offensive demands in a video.
‘Chaos’ began by stating he would grant Garry a chance to face him. His first demand involved Garry and his wife Layla keeping Instagram comments enabled. For his second condition, Covington disgustingly ordered Layla to beg on her hands and knees for 60 seconds to convince him why the fight needed to happen. Covington’s third stipulation proposed Layla to feature in his video next after he defeated Ian.
Garry had called out Covington after his win over Geoff Neal at UFC 298 in February, vowing to retire the controversial veteran from the UFC. Covington had remained silent until this outrageous video emerged. This rivalry has fans seeking a conclusion and could be a great draw for the UFC.
