Popular manager Ali Abdelaziz pushes Khabib Nurmagomedov ahead of Charles Oliveira in the lightweight GOAT debate. UFC commentator Jon Anik recently made a tweet questioning his fans and followers about the lightweight GOAT.
He made a poll with some of the best lightweights including Charles Oliveira, Khabib Nurmagomedov, BJ Penn, and Islam Makhachev. This came after Oliveira beat Dariush via a stellar TKO at UFC 289. In the poll Oliveira edged Nurmagomedov by a few percent however, Abdelaziz didn’t like it at all.
Ali Abdelaziz replied to the tweet by mentioning that he has huge respect for Oliveira but the Brazilian is nowhere near the level of Nurmagomedov. According to Abdelaziz, Oliveira has lost multiple fights in UFC in comparison to Nurmagomedov who was never bled once in his career.
He wrote: “Charles is an amazing fighter, but you can’t be the GOAT if you have 9 losses and got stopped 8 times, compared to a guy like Khabib who has never been knocked down, had a cut or barely lost 1 round in his career. Love you Jon.”
Abdelaziz has been Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s manager previously and still continues to support him. Even after two years of retirement, ‘The Eagle’ is still talked about a lot among fight fans.
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Charles Oliveira, the lightweight GOAT debate?
The UFC lightweight division is regarded as the most competitive among all the weight classes. The division has some of the best MMA fighters in the world and it’s very hard for anybody to stay at the top for years.
Over the years the fans have seen a few fighters who have still dominated the division such as BJ Penn, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Charles Oliveira. Among the ones, the Oliveira vs Nurmagomedov debate is pretty much talked about.
Both fighters have different journeys in the UFC and both are amazing. Nurmagomedov retired at the top with a perfect record of 29-0 and dominated everybody during his reign. The Dagestani was unstoppable and nobody was able to win against him. On the other hand, Oliveira struggled a lot in his early UFC career and has 9 losses in his career. However, he bounced back, and as a lightweight champion was very exciting to watch. Both fighters have a great fan following which constantly argues about the debate regarding who had a better career.
