“Nobody Understand Him” Islam Makhachev believes Charles Oliveira needs urgently learn English in order to be successful
Makhachev and Oliveira will headline UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi
The Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev build-up has no reason to have the amount of animosity it currently holds. Both fighters are otherwise totally respectful of their opponents and often wait to do their talking in the octagon, however, this time around it’s different .
Both fighters have one of the most iconic unbeaten runs in the history of the division and hence sparks are sure to fly when they finally meet in Abu Dhabi at UFC 280. However, the bad blood among both camps is boiling daily.
Charles has often shown displeasure at Khabib negating his place as a champion, predicting all of his precious opponents to beat Charles with none succeeding. Moreover, he takes specific offense to Khabib negating his ground game, as he had been submitted in the UFC before.
Islam Makhachev says Charles Oliveira needs to learn English
Islam on the other hand is varied in his criticism. He has previously called out Charles for only being successful in his title run because he faced strikers primarily who were afraid of going to the ground with him, having none of those fears himself, Islam is very confident in his abilities to beat Oliveira.
At his recent appearance at the Dc and RC show, Islam laid a brand new criticism of Charles, this time when it comes to promoting the fight itself. Islam accused the former champ of not knowing English and hence being unable to connect to a larger audience.
“Nobody understands this guy, he doesn’t speak English, you have to, if want to make money, “ said Islam as his teammate DC slowly loses his composure in the studio. Islam continued, “If you want to make money you have to speak a language everybody understands, nobody understands this guy. “
While valid enough in his criticism, Charles is apparently a huge star in his native country of Brazil and that is thanks to his oratory skills in his native language or Portuguese. However, it is not that he doesn’t completely understand the language as he was seen speaking English alongside Francis Ngannou is a recent video posted by the heavyweight.
Islam on the other hand like his camo from Dagestan learned the language on their way up in the UFC. Early footage of the team speaking English shows how far they’ve come in terms of grasping the language. While still a little broken, their style of speaking has given us some of the most unintentionally hilarious moments in MMA.
