Former double champion and UFC veteran Henry Cejudo is known for his MMA knowledge and critique. He just came out of retirement recently to challenge for the bantamweight championship held by Aljamain Sterling. Cejudo lost the fight in a lopsided decision but still wants to continue his MMA career. In a recent interview, Triple C gave his opinion on the lightweight division.
During the interview, Cejudo talked about the upcoming rematch between the lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira at UFC 294. He questioned the lightweight champion’s confidence. Makhachev had a very close win against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski who made him test his limits. After the fight, Makhachev looked drained out, making Cejudo wonder, “Is that fire, is that burn to prove yourself still there?”
Cejudo believes that Oliveira wasn’t himself and was overwhelmed in his last fight against Makhachev. There was pressure from all sides on Oliveira, from Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s training to the crowd in Abu Dhabi. Triple C also believes that if Oliveira works on his grappling skills, he will be able to defeat the lightweight champion.
This highly anticipated fight for the UFC lightweight title will take place on October 21, 2023, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Fans are eagerly anticipating this showdown between Makhachev and Oliveira, as both have shown incredible skills and have proven to be top contenders in the lightweight division.
Henry Cejudo believes Charles Oliviera is the greatest submission specialist
Oliviera is one of the most impressive fighters of the modern era. He holds the record for the most submissions in UFC history (16). He has submitted the majority of his opponents, including Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, Kevin Lee, and many more. This earned him praise from Triple C.
Cejudo talked about how dangerous”Do Bronx” can be as a fighter and how he sets traps for his opponents to fall into. On his YouTube channel, Cejudo said, “He is super witty with his submissions. The best submission specialist that the UFC has ever offered. Even above Demian Maia. This guy is able to transition into a variety of different submissions and he’s good at everything.”
Oliveira has had a successful career and is known for his well-rounded skills and ability to finish fights. He holds the UFC record for most fights before becoming a champion, with 28 fights. Oliveira’s most recent win came against Beneil Dariush via TKO at UFC 289. Fans will look forward to seeing Do Bronx’s submission skills again in the Octagon.
