Seems like UFC Lightweight Islam Makhachev is completely assured that aside from that one loss in 2015, he has an unstoppable career just like his mentor Khabib Nurmagomedov had. Makhachev, who’s on a 10-fight winning streak in the UFC, the longest active in the lightweight division alongside the current champion Charles Oliveira, has skyrocketed confidence as he has predicted for himself how he would do against Oliveira himself.
Both Makhachev and Oliveira are grappling masters in a division full of vicious strikers at the top like Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler and many more. Makhachev last fought and won in February 2022 and is most likely to fight #3 ranked lightweight Beneil Dariush next, the winner of which is most likely to get the next title shot. Oliveira is looking forward to his second title defence this weekend against former interim-champion Justin Gaethje at UFC 274.
Islam Makhachev rips Rafael Dos Anjos before getting to Charles Olveira
Makhachev recently went on Twitter to share an image of a list of the record of his recent fights, which also included cancelled bouts as well. Makhachev wrote in the caption “And here’s the list of my top 5 opponents, guess who pulled out most? [smiley emoji]” Makhachev was basically indicating that former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos is the one that pulls out of fighting him the most. But the last time the fight was booked between Makhachev and Dos Anjos, it was Makhacehv who refused to fight.
A fan wrote down randomly in the comment section “Islam vs Oliveira would have been the grappling master class. Let’s see if Oliveira wins, the fight against Islam is the most interesting in UFC right now… Either way, you gotta fight for the title whoever wins this weekend…” Makhachev was quick enough to quote the comment and said “I will submit Oliveira inside 3rd., screen it.“
