Islam and Charles will main event the stacked UFC 280 card
Islam Makhachev’s recent comments about Charles Oliveira not knowing the English language received mixed signals from the MMA community. While many were laughing off like DC did during the interview, many others were turned off by Islam’s deliberate attempt to bring in trash talk to the build-up of the fight.
Today Islam had another message for the Champion and his people, and just so they don’t misunderstand what the Dagestani had to say, he made sure to say it out in Portuguese.
Islam Makhachev is on a 9-fight win streak and will finally get his shot at the lightweight title in Abu Dhabi as he headlines UFC 280 alongside former champions, Charles Oliveira. Long been touted as his next coming by Khabib, the fight between Islam and Oliveira will determine the future of one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC.
Islam Makhachev says he’s taking the belt from Charles Oliveira and Brazil
At a recent interview by Islam Makhachev on the DC and RC Show, he talked to his teammate Cormier about how he feels Charles Oliveira is hurting himself by not learning the English language and hence hurting his prospects to earn money.
“Nobody understands this guy, he doesn’t speak English, you have to if want to make money, “ said Islam as his teammate DC slowly loses his composure in the studio. Islam continued, “If you want to make money you have to speak a language everybody understands, nobody understands this guy. “
Today in the same spirit, Islam took a shot at the Champion and his entire nation by sending them a message in their own language. On Twitter the lightweight tweeted, “FalaGalera, aqui está o seu futuro campeão dos leves do ufc. Resta muito pouco, até breve.”
The translation literally means , “Hey guys here is your future lightweight champion. There is very little left, see you soon.”
While Khabib and his team are hyping up the fight by often negating Oliveira’s accomplishments and often reducing him to a place holder for the belt since Khabib left, Charles has been trying to campaign for a more respectful build up saying, “Their arrogance will kill them, “ of Khabib and his team
