Israel Adesanya is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC, and his fame has transcended the sport. As such, he has acquaintance with superstar athletes from other sports, like Cristiano Ronaldo, Tyson Fury, and Anthony Joshua, to name a few. Adesanya supports combat sports athletes from his homeland of New Zealand. He recently bet big on Joseph Parker, his compatriot.
Parker will fight in the co-main event of Knockout Chaos against Zhilei Zhang. Adesanya bet $25K on Stake, which is also one of his sponsors. Parker is a big underdog in the fight and if victorious, Adesanya could bag close to $68K. This is not the first time that Adesanya bet on an underdog in Stake. He had bet on the underdog, the New Zealand Rugby team, against the favorites, the Republic of Ireland.
The All Blacks won the match against the Wolfhounds, and Adesanya’s $20K bet bagged him $44K. At the time of the match, Adesanya wished for the success of his nation, while Conor McGregor also did the same for his.
Israel Adesanya attended all the previous high-profile boxing events in Riyadh, and he will most likely attend to watch Joseph Parker. Fellow former UFC champion Francis Ngannou will headline the PPV against Anthony Joshua.
Israel Adesanya cheered for Joseph Parker at Day of Reckoning
Israel Adesanya attended the Day of Reckoning, where Anthony Joshua fought Otto Wallin in the main event. As expected, Joshua defeated Wallin in the main event. However, in the co-main event, Joseph Parker scored an upset victory over the heavy-hitting Deontay Wilder.
Adesanya cheered on both Joshua and Parker as he was acquainted with both. Moreover, Adesanya even had a wholesome interaction with Parker in the audience after the victory. Nobody expected Parker to emerge victor, let alone outbox Wilder without getting knocked out. Wilder could not land his signature power punch on the Kiwi boxer, and Parker frustrated Wilder with volume.
Adesanya was also in attendance to watch Battle of the Baddest, headlined by Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou. He has always praised Turki Alalshikh for putting up blockbuster fights in Riyadh. The UFC will debut in Riyadh in June, and Adesanya might be one of the names that could headline the event. However, he might not feature on the card as there is a possibility that his next fight might become a PPV headliner against Dricus Du Plessis.
