Conspiracies in the UFC are not unique. From speculations to a fighter being given special treatment to being snubbed, conspiracies are a usual move for fans of MMA. Recently, middleweight champion Israel Adesanya dropped a compelling theory on a podcast that had fans thinking. ‘The Last Stylebender’ speculated the reasons for Islam Makachev being the UFC champion and shocked the hosts.
The Alexander Volkanovski vs. Islam Makachev fight that took place recently was considered one of the greatest fights of 2023. However, the bout had an edge of controversy following it. Despite the Russian fighter taking home the victory, the majority of fans believe Volkanovski to have been the winner of the fight. Fellow fighter and friend of Alexander, Israel Adesanya, happens to be an individual who believes the same.
On the ‘Flagrant‘ podcast, Israel Adesanya had this to say, “Look at the movement right now in Fight Island Abu Dhabi, the steaks they have in the UFC. It pays them to have a champ that’s from that side of the world,” as he prefaced that the conspiracy was told to him by a friend. The podcast host Andrew Schulz and ‘The Last Stylebender’ went on to claim that Alexander Volkanovski had won the fight against Islam Makachev and revealed their excitement for the rematch.
Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski are known to be good friends. Both fighters were captured in multiple videos talking about their fighting experiences. They have also made an appearance on their respective YouTube channels and have grown closer.

When Israel Adesanya confidently predicted Alexander Volkanovski to win against Islam Makachev

Following his brutal loss against Alex Pereira at UFC 281, Israel Adesanya went on the ‘Flagrant’ podcast. In a segment, the New Zealand fighter gave his predictions on the Alexander Volkanovski vs. Islam Makachev fight. ‘Izzy’ took it one step further to reveal he would bet his house on Volkanovski emerging victorious. Although Adesanya had given Makachev credit, he predicted the Australian fighter to emerge victorious.
“Volk used to be a fat guy. The thing is, when you walk around with that kinda body mass for years you develop a different kinda muscle density. And, Islam is great. Trust me, these Dagi boys they know what they’re doing. But again, I’m biased. Honestly, I could bet my whole house on it,” said Israel Adesanya as he predicted Alexander Volkanovski to emerge victorious.
Although the fight failed to go how Adesanya predicted, it was a close decision. To this day, the majority of fans believe the Australian fighter to have won the fight via a split decision. Fans are excited for a rematch between the lightweight contenders in the future.
