“They’re tough man”- Israel Adesanya hails Kevin Gastelum’s Mexican heritage as he recalled their clash

Israel Adesanya came into the limelight from the start of his UFC career when he defeated fighters like Marvin Vettori, Derek Brunson and legend, Anderson Silva. At UFC 236, Izzy and Gastelum fought each other to win the Interim UFC Middleweight Championship. The fight was extremely impressive and was very entertaining. Izzy won the back and forth fight via unanimous decision.
The fighters got the Fight of the Night award bonus and the fight was regarded as one of the best of that year. Gastelum took some nasty shots and got dropped but was able to stand back up. It can be considered one of the best fights of Adesanya’s professional MMA career.
After that fight, Izzy went to become the undisputed champion by defeating Robert Whittaker on his home turf. Since then, the ‘ last style bender has defended his title on multiple occasions.
Israel Adesanya on Kelvin Gastelum’s reliability during their fight
Adesanya recently did an interview with BT Sport where the fighter reviewed his fight with Gastelum. Adesanya gave a clear idea of what went down during the fight.
While talking about Gastelum’s durability Adesanya confirmed that the fighter was extremely tough. Izzy revealed that it has something to do with Gastelum being Mexican as they are generally strong. Izzy explained that during the fight he was focused but Gastelum was very dangerous to fight. He said:
” I’m telling you man, I know something about Mexicans they’re tough man….I was zoned in I was just like this is it, it’s you and me…I don’t know what the f* feed him out there but he’s dangerous.”
Izzy has always been an entertainer and attracted fight fans through his dynamic style and performances. However, in a few of his last fights the champion has not shown anything impressive despite winning the bouts. Fans will be expecting Izzy to put on a show at UFC 276.
