His current opponent in the UFC, Jared Cannonier, is said to be his toughest to yet. Since joining the UFC roster last year, Pereira is 2-0. He defeated Andreas Michailidis via knockout before defeating Bruno Silva through the decision. Adesanya rejected the idea that, should both of them triumph at UFC 276, it would be premature for Pereira to meet him in a UFC news conference last week.

UFC middleweight champion, is the only combat sports player to be defeated by Pereira. Pereira prevailed in each of their two kickboxing matches against Adesanya. He was defeated by Pereira twice, once by unanimous decision in 2016 and once via knockout in 2017. Despite suffering two defeats at the hands of Pereira in kickboxing, UFC middleweight champion Adesanya doesn’t view him as a particularly difficult MMA opponent. In a recent interview with Kayo Sports, Israel stated, “I’m gonna go with Alex Pereira because I’ll make him look easy,Yeah, right now just enjoy the setup fights, enjoy the setup victories, you know? Yeah, that’s overhyped.”
