“Get your life together”- Israel Adesanya reveals if he’d fight Jon Jones
Israel Adesanya vs Jon Jones
UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya talked about a fight between him and Jon Jones. Jon is the former UFC light heavyweight champion, and he is looking to return to the octagon later this year. Israel is all set to defend his middleweight title against Jared Cannonier at UFC 276, but he also fired shots at Jon during the press conference for the event.
Israel is one of the top fighters in the UFC and he ranks third in the UFC PFP rankings. Israel will enter the octagon for the second time this year on July 3 and defend his title for the 5th time. Jon Jones is arguably the best fighter in the history of the UFC, but he has also been part of various controversies recently. Jone and Israel had an online feud in the past and both have exchanged words through their social media handle.
Jon last fought in 2020 and has teased his return this year. Jon has expressed his desire to fight the heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and also former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Israel was asked about a potential fight with Jon in future and Israel said that a fight could materialize if Jon gets his life together. Israel said: “He should move up a weight first. Go fight Francis or even like, I don’t know. Stop being on TMZ, get his life together.“
“I don’t need it”- Israel Adesanya believes he doesn’t need to fight Jon Jones for legacy
Israel Adesanya, in his interview with TMZ sports, revealed he believes he doesn’t need to fight Jon Jones for legacy. Israel earlier moved to light heavyweight to fight for the light heavyweight title against Jan Blachowicz. However, Israel lost the fight, but he has expressed his desire to move to light heavyweight again.
Israel, in his interview, admitted that a fight with Jon would be exciting because he dominated the light heavyweight division during his career. He also said a fight with jones would be something that he would look forward to in the future, but he dismissed the narrative that suggests he needs to fight Jones to cement himself as one of MMA’s GOATs.
Israel said: “I don’t need it, but I want it. I don’t need it, though. People think I need it for my legacy.” When asked whether he would consider a fight at heavyweight, Adesanya said, “Nah, I like light heavyweight. That’s where he was dominant, so I really wanna go light heavyweight.”
