Israel Adesanya vs Jon Jones

Israel Adesanya recently received a jacket from UFC’s drug testing partner, USADA, for 50 clean drug tests in his UFC career. Israel used the ceremony to call out rival Jon Jones for failing drug tests in the past. Adesanya will face Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 on Saturday to defend his middleweight title for the 5th time because which he was tested for using any PEDs.

Israel and Jon have a long rivalry and both have fired shots at each other on multiple occasions. Jon has been out of action since his last fight in early 2020 and is expected to return to the octagon later this year. Both fighters have talked about a potential fight and they might face each other in the future. While Israel claimed in the past that the fight between them was inevitable, he recently changed his stance and clarified that the fight will only take place if Jon gets his life together.

Israel once again took shots at Jones for his failed drug tests in the past and pointed out the incident where Jones hid under a cage at Jackson Wink MMA to avoid a Nevada Athletic Commission drug tester. Jones has been suspended twice because of failed drug tests and was even stripped off his light heavyweight title. Taking a dig at Jones, Israel said: “I’ve never hidden anywhere, by the way … always show my whereabouts. You’ll never find me under the cage — I’m always in there fighting.”

Jon Jones is arguably the greatest UFC fighter of all time and with such an impressive resume, it’s hard for anyone to deny that he might be the G.O.A.T. Jones is the former two time light heavyweight champion and has win over top fighters like Daniel Cormier, Glover Teixeira, Chael Sonnen and Alexander Gustafsson. Despite all the accomplishments inside the octagon, Jon has been the subject of controversies because of his actions outside the MMA world.

If Israel defeats Jared at UFC 276, he will achieve everything in the middleweight division and would look to move up to 205 once again. Talking about a potential fight with Jones, Israel said: “He should move up first. Go fight Francis, or even, like, I don’t know, stop being on TMZ. Get his life together.”

A fight between Jones and Adesanya would definitely bring action inside the octagon and fans would be excited to see how it plays out. Both fighters have exceptional records and achievements in the UFC and a fight involving two of the biggest UFC stars would be all but boring for the fans. Jones has expressed his desire to return to the octagon soon, but no fight is yet confirmed for him. It would be exciting to see how the future plays out for both the fighters.
