Sean Strickland gets validation from Israel Adesanya's coach
Israel Adesanya calls Sean Strickland his little stepbrother and is ready to fight him anytime in the upcoming future. Adesanya will be defending his UFC middleweight title against a new challenger, Jared Cannonier at UFC 276. On the same card, there is another important middleweight bout between Sean Strickland and Alex Pereira. The winner of this fight might get the ch mance to fight for the title as Izzy has already cleared the top fighters in the division.
Strickland is the most promising aspect when it comes to challenging Izzy if he successfully defends against Cannonier. Strickland is currently #4 in the division with a six-fight winning streak. Similarly, Izzy is known for giving chances to new blood who have what it takes to stand opposite the ‘ Last Stylebender’.
Israel Adesanya comments on Sean Strickland’s blunt attitude
Adesanya was recently at the pre-fight press conference of UFC 276 where the champion answered some of the questions from the media.
During the interaction, Adesanya was asked whether he would like to defend his Middleweight title against Strickland if the fighter wins his next bout. While responding to the question, Izzy revealed that he likes Strickland and is ready for the fight in future. Adesanya explained Strickland as his unwanted little step brother and a weirdo. Izzy claimed that he respects Strickland for being honest with his words. Adesanya said :
“Yeah, I like Strickland man he’s like the little step brother I never wanted. He’s a weird. I respect the guy because he just speaks his mind, I speak my mind too but he speaks his mind regardless of the repercussions. We’re under the same paradigm. You know the management team and Yeah I’m sure sometimes they have headache with some of the stuffs he puts out but I respect the fact that he speaks his truth.”
Strickland is an entertaining character who says things that are not normally said by other MMA fighters. He is one of those individuals who doesn’t really care about being politically correct everytime he speaks. Things make him interesting both inside and outside the octagon.
It will be amazing to see if Strickland gets an opportunity to fight Izzy in future.
